L’Unita’ di Crisi del Ministero degli Esteri ha introdotto una nuova funzione nel sito “Dove siamo nel mondo” (
www.dovesiamonelmondo.it ) Il sito, sviluppato in origine per turisti e lavoratori in missione all’estero, presenta ora un campo di registrazione (“residenti temporanei”) per coloro che, iscritti o meno all’AIRE, si trattengono per lunghi periodi all’estero.
La nuova funzione, oltre a consentire la tradizionale registrazione di un numero di telefono per contatti d’emergenza, offre la possibilita’ di indicare anche l’ubicazione della propria abitazione su una mappa “Google Map”.
L’obiettivo e’ di agevolare l’assistenza in caso di disastro e di facilitare le Sedi stesse nella verifica delle stabili presenze di connazionali, fondamentale per un intervento tempestivo d’emergenza.
Il servizio e’ gratuito e conforme alla legge sulla riservatezza dei dati. Le informazioni, infatti, vengono utilizzate solo in caso di emergenza e tutti i dati forniti saranno automaticamente cancellati due giorni dopo il termine di soggiorno indicato.

The Crisis Unit (Unita’ di Crisi) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently introduced a new section in the website “Dove siamo nel mondo” (
www.dovesiamonelmondo.it).
The website, originally developed for tourists and workers abroad, presents now a registration field (“residenti temporanei”- “temporary residents”) to whom, registered or not at A.I.R.E, spend long periods of time abroad.
This new function, not only allows the traditional registration of a telephone number for emergencies, but also offers the possibility to state the location of one’s house on a Google Map.
The aim is to facilitate the assistance in case of disasters and to help Embassies in verifying the presence of fellow citizens, as fundamental requirement for a prompt emergency intervention.
The service is free of charge and pursuant to privacy law. Information, in fact, is only used in case of emergency and all provided data will automatically be deleted two days after the end of the stay.

A host family is needed for a High School Foreign Exchange students from Italy, for the 2011 fall semester. A potential host family is needed for a boy who is mature, and a great student. He enjoys skiing, bowling, sailing and boating, and loves to play basketball. He can't wait to meet his new American family.
Students come with good English skills, full health insurance and their own personal spending money, and mainly the desire to be a member of an American family. We ask our families to provide a bed (shared room is okay with similar age range) and meals eaten with the family. Host families do not need to have teenagers of their own; young families as well as empty nesters are excellent high school student hosts this year.

Carissimi studenti,
Summer is almost over and our Fall Schedule for Italian classes at La Scuola Italiana begins next Monday! Yes! Labor Day!

Also, our much loved teacher Federica Basagni has returned home to Italy.
Brian Dionisi (a graduate instructor at UW) will be joining us and taking her Tuesday classes.(4:30/6:30)
Our wonderful Francesca Giambartolomei will be moving from Wednesday to Monday classes (4:30/6:30).
And Jennifer Allen (also a previous instructor at the UW and SLA) will be filling in until she can join us in Winter.
I am very excited about our new instructors and hope you will be too. They seem to be getting younger and younger though...or is it....

Italian-Speaking Testing for Welocalize
Hello:
I'm a Recruitment Specialist with Welocalize, a translation and localization company with an office in Seattle. We are currently seeking native Italian speakers in the Seattle area to do QA testing projects with us. Quality Assurance (QA) testing includes, but is not limited to, the process of executing a program or application with the intent of finding software bugs (errors, flaws, mistakes, failures or faults in a computer program or system). It also includes testing for mistakes/errors in translation.
This is an independent contractor position where the tester would be assigned to projects as they come depending on your availability. We have regular short-term QA testing projects on-site at our software client's facility in Redmond, WA.
We have two short projects starting this Friday and next Monday respectively for which we need Italian testers. I wanted to reach out to see if anyone associated with the Italian Club of Seattle may be interested. I would appreciate any referrals or recommendations!

Job Details: The position will entail working on Italian video game titles as well as English titles. The Italian has already been translated, the tester would be checking to make sure that the language has been translated correctly.
